Case study 02 · 2022—2025

Creating a global R&D expert organisation

Designed and established a new global operating model while navigating complex organisational change across regions.

Globaloperating model

The challenge

R&D expertise was distributed across regions without a single operating model, consistent performance language or shared approach to capacity.

What changed

  1. Designed the global operating model, role architecture, governance and performance expectations.
  2. Led organisational consultation across Legal, Associate Relations, regional leadership and Works Council processes.
  3. Introduced quarterly benchmarking and performance analysis across capability, cost and delivery.
  4. Redesigned European resourcing to combine emerging talent, flexible capacity and experienced specialists.
Scale

A sizeable global R&D organisation, with direct regional leadership and coordination across the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe.

Result

Significant savings while maintaining capacity, with the European model subsequently adopted in other regions.

What it enabled

A repeatable way to organise specialist capability around outcomes rather than geography.
